Costa Rica Regular Ground

Satisfy your taste for adventure and awaken your senses with the globally inspired GEVALIA Kaffe Costa Rica from the Passport Collection. Sourced exclusively from Costa Rica, a country known for its authentic highland valleys and mineral enriched volcanic soil, this rich, never bitter medium-bodied coffee has a lighter roast which captures delicate fruit and citrus undertones.

This GEVALIA coffee contains beans from farms that have achieved Rainforest Alliance certification, which encourages a minimum of 40% shade cover on farms located in naturally forested areas. Shade grown coffee is grown beneath a canopy of trees. The shade acts to prolong the bean maturation, which contributes to its complex flavors. Now you can experience the true taste of Costa Rica without ever leaving your home.

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 16 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by New Shade Grown Costa Rican vs. the old Costa Rican Peaberry product Since Gevalia has cut a lot of its product line I find that this 'New' Costa Rican shade grown coffee has a very high acidity compared to the Costa Rican Peaberry that Gevalia used to sell. While the Peaberry had less acidity it was a more intense tasting coffee. This shade grown bean is not bad but I'm finding that i have to use more to get the same boldness and intensity that I got with the Peaberry brand (drank that for 20 + years). Also, I'm not a fan of the bag style packaging. All in all the shade grown coffee is a good brew, just not as good as the peaberry. December 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful flavor Bold, rich flavor. Enjoy it black. It is very flavorful. December 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Both of the shade-grown coffees are excellent but the Costa Rica really shines. Mellow and rich it is as the summary states -- perfect! December 6, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by disappointing weak brew. need to double amount to get flavor. citrus undertone upsets the balance. dark roasting may help. December 3, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by gr8 features This was a first time for me and I was very pleased. December 1, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by A Nice Medium Coffee This is a nice medium flavored coffee for a morning wake up. It took about 3 or 4 tries to get the right strength and flavor for our tastes, slightly stronger till it seemed right. It has been a while since I tasted your retired flavor, Gevalia Costa Rica Peaberry, but I think this blend is a bit different from that one. November 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Costa Rican always tastes good. We enjoy your Costa Rican coffee and are glad we have fount that you carry it. November 10, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by A little to acidic I have had Costa Rica coffee before and this certainly doesn't do it the accolades that Costa Rican coffee deserves. This was a bold acidic flavor and not like the true Costa Rican coffee that I purchased in Costa Rica. I bought this in hopes that it would be the true medium blend but its to strong and acidic. There is no comparison at all. It couldn't hold a candle to the Whole Bean Peaberry!
