Frequently Asked Questions

Gevalia single-serve cups for use in the Keurig® K-Cup® Brewer

Are the current Gevalia single-serve cups compatible with the new Keurig® 2.0 machine?
We are currently in a transition period. After the transition period, all Gevalia single-serve cups will be compatible with the new Keurig® 2.0 machine. Look for a black compatibility icon on the bottom-left corner of the front of the package. The icon will appear with a check mark and say “For use in all Keurig® K-Cup® Brewers.” If the label reads “…all Keurig® K-Cup® Brewers.” this means that the product has transitioned and is now compatible.

How long will the transition period take?
The transition will be different for all flavor varieties. Some will be more immediate, and some may take several months.

Is it true that Gevalia single-serve cups for use in Keurig® K-Cup® brewers are melting during use?
No. Our single-serve coffee cups do not melt. They are designed to expand during the brewing process. That is why used cups can sometimes take on a different form after brewing. The cup's expansion does not harm the Keurig® brewer or negatively affect the product in any way.

Are chemicals released into the coffee when the plastic expands? Is it at all dangerous?
No. The cup's expansion is not a safety or quality issue. It does not negatively impact the ingredients or flavor for the coffee.

Why do Gevalia single-serve cups for use in the Keurig® K-Cup® brewer expand but my other K-Cup® cartridges do not?
We cannot speak to the design of any other brands' products. We can tell you that the expansion feature in the Gevalia single-serve cups is expected and is part of the process that enables brewing of our Gevalia products.

When I made my coffee there were grounds in my cup. Is your product defective?

If you have experienced an issue with your Kraft single-serve coffee cup, we want to hear about it. Please call (Gevalia 888-496-0021) to speak to one of our customer service team members.

It looks like my cup was not pierced completely before brewing. Is that normal?
