Roast Coffee Varieties at Gevalia
No matter what your preference, Gevalia offers an assortment of roast coffee that everyone will enjoy. Producing the characteristic color, taste and smell of coffee beans, the coffee roasting process progressively transforms the more mildly flavored original beans to a more pronounced, darker roast. Those that enjoy Light Roast coffee tend to prefer a lighter body with higher acidity and little to no roast flavor; our Café le Procope is a perfect example of a lighter roast coffee. Medium Roast offers a greater balance of acidity, aroma and complexity, while Dark Roast coffee is somewhat spicier with a much more pronounced roast flavor. From Field to Cup: Coffee
The journey coffee takes for field to cup is an interesting one and with Gevalia’s coffee heritage we know it well. The trail of coffee beans begins in plantations across the world where the beans are harvested and then processed resulting in a cleaned coffee bean. After being dried using one of several different processes, the coffee beans are sorted and then either roasted or packaged as whole bean coffee. One of the most impactful processes in producing the final flavor, the coffee roasting process changes the coffee beans both physically and chemically. Finally the whole bean coffee is graded based on the roast and other factors. Once the coffee beans have been graded, Gevalia then inspects them using our own exacting standards to find those worthy of becoming Gevalia coffee. Whether you enjoy Gevalia’s ground or whole bean coffee, you’ll appreciate the journey it has taken from the field to your cup.
