Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great size I bought this for my mom so she can put her Gevalia coffee in it and to also maintain the freshness of the coffee. I read the comments other customers wrote about it and I personally would without any doubt recommend. The lid closes tightly and it's big enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Other Uses Don't laugh, unless you want to ;-) , but I use these to store pet kibble. The Gev. canisters, which I've owned forever, are a bit too big & round to fit in the coffee cabinet. I leave ground coffee in the bags in which they arrive and store them in the clear-topped, stainless-steel canisters. That way, I have a quick view of which type of coffee each canister holds. This canister is very well made and handsome so why hide it in a cabinet - these are perfect for monthly storage of pet kibble. I scoop from the 30 lb. bags into these beauties. Compared to typical pet food storage containers, I prefer the ceramic to plastic, these are truly air-tight and have no parts which rust after "hand-washing", you'll never see instant finger prints requiring wiping off as on stainless canisters. My favorite feature is the lid with its' permanent gasket built right into it-- in lieu of a separate, rubber gasket like those used in other types of canisters. With removable gaskets they will eventually stretch out and will fall off and into the the canister [of food] which also negates the airtight capability of the lid. I've also lost the gaskets over time (during washing) which renders the canister useless for food storage. So, today I'm here to purchase an additional 2 canisters & am delighted to find them on sale. My current canisters are in good shape but are so old that Gevalia no longer carries the identical, style. This is fine by me, I actually prefer the updated, leaner look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Coffee Cannister Nice replacement for my old Gevalia coffee canister (20+ years). Holds one pound (real 1 lb., not 12 oz.) and coffee scoop. The canister has sleek clean look which fits my minimalist style.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality product I don't usually like to write reviews,so tedious, but Gevalia takes the time to make sure they have nothing but the best quality products. They have never disappointed me. This canister is exactly what I expected from Gevalia. The fact that I got it at clearance price was a BONUS !

Is this canister (incuding top with rubber ring) dishwasher safe?

Asked by: procope
I hand wash mine just for safety reasons. I would worry that the rubber ring would get damaged from the heat of the dishwasher.

What's the knob height and ease of use?

Knob looks small and low, so I'm wondering how easy it is to break the silicon seal and lift the lid using this knob? Looks like it would be a struggle, maybe even chipping the canister in the process? Is the white canister easier to open? (I don't think it looks as elegant as the cream canister, though.)
Asked by: kitchenbarista
I bought the cream canister. It is Very easy to open and close. The silicone ring comes off easily for cleaning, and goes back on just as easy. I didn't use the dishwasher, I hand washed it when I received it. It is much more elegant looking on my counter than my old Tupperware plastic canister, and is tremendously easier to open and close than that burping lid!
