Had the coffee maker for about 15 years and still love it. Buy the reusable basket and you are good to go!

This makes great coffee
I love this coffee maker, and the ability to program it to have my pot of coffee ready early in the morning. It is very easy to use, although I would change a few things, such as... Make the time display area bigger, and illuminate blue. I would also like to see the area that you pour the water into, made easier. I find if I don't use a measuring cup with a pour spout, I spill water. Make it more user friendly, but all in all, I am happy, and still using it after approx 3 yrs. Thank you, Cynthia, WV. :)"

Stainless steel white 12 cup pot.
I'm still using my 12 cup coffee pot and so far, it works fine. Had it for several years and use it every day. Getting ready to order more coffee since I love the flavored kind.

This coffeemaker is simple to auto set, makes unbelievable coffee, is pretty to look at.

temperature
This coffee maker doesn't brew very hot. Have to heat in microwave. This is the second pot I received and they both did the same thing. The first did it so I contacted Gevalia and they sent the second one with same results. Will just stay with store bought like Mr Coffee.

HORRIBLE!!! DON'T BUY!
I've had 3 of these in the last 3 years and they have all stopped working. Not worth the money. I will NEVER buy a Gevalia coffee maker again!

How do I clean this coffemaker. I know my coffee would taste better if I could get the residue out of the filter/coffee holder.

Answer:
Why use harsh chemicals on an appliance you are going to be drinking out of?Use straight vinegar in the basket, just leave the basket in the coffeemaker with the lid open. Let the basket soak overnight or during the day while you are at work and rinse thoroughly.
Once every 2-3 weeks you can also mix 1 part vinegar to 2 parts cold water and add it to the coffeemaker and brew as you would normally allowing the heated vinegar/water solution to remove hard water stains, mineral deposits etc. and then flush with two pots of fresh water only in the same manner.
Really, this method works just as well (and is much better for your health) than using something like Lime Away to clean your coffeemaker.

Answer:
1. You can find a commercial coffee maker cleaner in the coffee aisle of most super markets. Just follow the directions on the package.2. If the above doesn't work, fill the carafe with water, dissolve a teaspoon of Cream of Tarter in it and run it through the coffee maker. Rinse the coffee maker by running two more carafes of clean water through it.
3. It the above does not clean the filter basket, remove it and soak it in KABOOM; or other commercial lime scale remover.

Answer:
I always run a cycle of filtered water in between pots, and also only make my brews with filtered water - as I live in a hard water area. In Italy we never use anything but water to clean coffee pots and makers. If you prefer, here at Gevalia website, they sell a pot cleaner stuff called Cleancaf® Coffeemaker Cleaner. Click on Gifts and Accessories at the brown bar at the top of the page. Then "Accessories" from the drop down menu.

I cannot find any way to release the filter holder to remove used filters? And i cannot find any instruction booklet. I have to lift the used filter out and that does not seem efficient. What am I missing?

Answer:
There is a lift ring on each side of the basket. You need to pull up enough to overpower the detent but that should be only slightly more than the weight of the loaded basket. When replacing the basket you need to press down enough to overpower the detent as well.Age: Over 65

Answer:
I never even tried to lift the filter holder, I always grab the used filter and throw it. I don't see any problem with that. But if you have to lift something, buy the permanent gold filter that has an attached handle to facilitate disposal.Age: 35-44
