Poorly insulated This was another free gift, but it's just taking up space in a cabinet. I haven't used it in years. Does it work? Well, yeah, sort of--but it doesn't keep coffee warm for very long. Even when preheated with hot water, the coffee loses warmth very quickly. I'd be happy if it kept coffee at a good drinking temperature for an hour or two, but it doesn't hold heat for nearly that long. If you can tolerate tepid coffee after a half hour, this might work for you. Otherwise, look elsewhere. November 23, 2012

Not Too Happy.... I got this as a gift. I loved it until this mornong. There is water trapped in between the outer shell & inner shell. It won't come out except for a small drip when it is on it's side. So now it is laying on a towel to dry. It kept my coffee hot for about 2 hours. But I rarely drink my coffee hot. I prefer iced. It does an A+ job at keeping my coffee cold (I mix the coffee & creamer in here) for about 5-6 hours if I put the carafe in the fridge to cool the hot coffee. My biggest issue is that it is a nightmare to clean. November 12, 2012

hot coffee for later! I got this thermal carafe free along w/ the travel mug when I had a co-worker sign on to Gevalier- since it was a free-gift from Gevalia, I am thrilled with it! Otherwise I think it's a bit pricey and you may do better else-where. It keeps the coffee quite hot for about 5-6 hours; but really, who likes to drink coffee that old anyway?! [blech!] I use it when we have house guests and I want to brew back to back pots so there is enough hot coffee to go around and we don't have to wait for the second pot to brew- Works great if you want 2 pots of different brews such as a medium, flavored, or french roast, and just 1 pot! ;-) Does NOT drip when poured; easy to clean. Keeps coffee hot only a couple of hours Followed instructions and pre-heated carafe with hot water while coffee brewed. Kept coffee hot about 2 hours. At the end of 6 hours coffee was cold so that I had to 'nuke it' to bring it up to a drinking temperature. I also found it would only hold about 4 of the 12 cups I brewed. Guess that I will have to go back to my half gallon (2 quart) stainless steel thurmos which kept my coffee drinking hot for over 12 hours. Howard January 23, 2012

Answer:

Rinse it once with warm water, and then fill it up again with warm water and let it sit for five or ten minutes. That's all you have to do--no soap needed.
