Rated 5 out of 5 by Features are good, looks good, smell of the new plastic not good. Hard to get rid of the taste and smell . The smell of the new plastic is not good. I purchased this coffee maker because I had one before and it lasted well. My old pot lasted for about nine years. I really would have as soon had the old pot repaired or repaired it myself. Had I known you were going to put it on sale with in a couple of weeks I would have waited and bought it later. The stainless is not worth the price. Three pieces of thin stain stamped steel isn't worth the price. Sorry I,m not very happy wth the price and smell. Lawrence Brown August 14, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by I had one for maybe 8 years and replaced it with this one, and thankfully the design had not changed. We like it a lot. This coffee maker does exactly what it says it does. It makes great cup(s) of coffee. We use Folgers coffee and Pure Brew filters. I noticed that in other reviews people had trouble making coffee, I assumed they did not fold the filters like they should, (across the bottom and up the side). Then it fits perfect in the holder. I pour the water in the right hand side looking at it from the front. You can use the back where the groves are but you then have to move the maker from under your cabinet. I would recommend this coffee maker to even my enemies (they would become friends afterward). Please don't try to improve this product. Non-coffee drinkers should not be designing. May 8, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Ever I got mine at least 10 years ago, there are some design changes from the current one, but it works like a dream. It makes the best coffee, the smell in the morning is so nice. I recommend this coffee maker over all others, I have had many other $12 coffee makers, and they do not compare. I even still have the original pot that came with it, and all other machines, that was the first thing to break. I do have 2 other Gevalia coffee pots, and they too, work great. older then this one. Rated 5 out of 5 by Good I bought this item 10 years ago. Coffee taste really good from this pot. After 10 years- it wasn't get as hot anymore. Time for a new pot. I bought a cheaper pot. The coffee did not taste as good. I just put it in dish washer and pot broke. How the old saying go- you get what you pay for. I am ordering this maker again. April 7, 2016

I currently have a Gevalia coffee maker. The problem with it is when the hot water is dispensed, the water flows down the side of the filter and the 34 filter collapses leaving an undrinkable and wasted pot of coffee.

How does the coffee canister close and how does the water dispense to avoid this?

I have that same problem. I tried a Mr. Coffee with a flat filter and same problem. Gevalia coffee seems to be ground so fine that it clogs the filter. We have to cycle the pot on and off to keep it from flooding. I will try the valley in the middle trick. My wife and I like the coffee but she has decided to quit buying it because of this problem.

Answer: 
Use cone filters and if it still gives you trouble, make sure the coffee has a little valley in it when you put it in. Almost as if you are pressing the coffee up the sides a bit, so the water has a semi-guided place to pool and brew coffee.

Answer: 
Sounds like you're pouring in hot water & if so the pot won't brew. Use only cold water when filling the reservoir. If this fixes the problem your coffee will also taste better.

My sister bought the coffee maker not to long ago from someone and when she moved she left it well I went to program it last night and I can not get the time to change let alone program it. The red amd green light will blink for about a min and half. When it's on it sounds like it's trying to brew but nothing comes out. How can I fix this?

Answer: 
When I needed to replace my carafe for my out-dated Gevalia, it was recommended I simply purchase a replacement carafe locally. This I did by measuring the height I would need. I got a Mr. Coffee replacement carafe at Target for less than $20.
