Love Gevalia, Hate their K-cups We have been Gevalia customers for over two decades, and were elated when the K-cups arrived. We were certain that the K-cups would solve waste issues with pouring out remaining coffee with regular coffee makers. Not so. I have read the other reviews, and I agree: the issues/cons with these K-cups far outweigh any time or cost savings. We have tried all the solutions suggested in the reviews here and on other sites (changing filter, using filtered water, descaling, cleaning machine, pressing down K-cup onto needle b/f closing lid, using filtered water, running water through machine after each K-cup, etc.) - all with intermittent success - NEVER consistent. We have had to use TWO K-cups to get a SINGLE cup of coffee - and with grounds in the mug. NOT ACCEPTABLE, especially at the added expense for K-cups! Talk about jumping through hoops to get a cup of coffee! We have had our Keurigs (two machines) for over two years. Since these Gevalia K-cups are the only ones creating problems, we will be forced to return to manually adding Gevalia coffee to the My K-Cup accessory provided with the Keurig or use our second choice for K-cup coffees. When we actually do get a cup of coffee from the K-cups, it is awesome! I hope Gevalia is reading these reviews, and fixes the problems with these K-cups. I will recommend the ground Gevalia coffees, but I cannot recommend the K-cups. May 29, 2013
K-cup malfunction fix I had the same problem with the K-cups until I started manually pushing the cups down until I hear it pop, then close the lid. Problem solved and it's an easy fix. May 21, 2013
Grounds in EVERY cup Everytime I use this in my Keurig it plugs the needle and the coffee drips out. I get grounds in my coffee and when you get to the bottom of the cup the coffee is so thick and full of grounds. I would not recommend the k cups at all. May 14, 2013
Yumm! This is not my usual but Gevalia Signature Blend is amazing. I received it in a sample pack a lady at work brought to me. I think it may be my new go to coffee. Delicious! May 8, 2013
grounds in my cup... The taste is great, but the k-cups are leaking grounds into every cup I make. Gevalia is the only brand that I have this problem with. I have cleaned my brewer many times, and run it without a k-cup until I can see that it is clean and my brew is clear of grounds. The minute I put in a Gevalia cup, I get grounds again. There are so many grounds in the cup that I have to strain it in order to even drink it. It completely negates the convenience of using the Keurig brewer. I will not buy this brand again. April 30, 2013
Problematic Single Serve Cups I bought the Gevalia Signature Blend Single Server Cups for use with my Keurig machine. I have tried numerous brands of K-Cups, and these are the first I've had any operating issues with. After reading some of the other reviews, it seems others have expericienced similar instances/issues. My first attempt resulted in no coffee. After removing the cup, I noticed the bottom had not punctured. The second attempt produced copious amounts of grounds in the cup. I've been drinking coffe for a while now, as I imagine most of us have, and this was not the run of the mill couple/few grounds in the bottom of the cup. This was a mound of grounds. After allowing the cup to cool, I opened the foil top and noted the filter had become approximately half removed from the top of the cup. This was not due to me opening he cup, as I went from the center of the foil out, and never went all the way to the ends. The ridged sides of these cups seem to be less durable/strong than smooth cups, and seem more sensitive to the heat that is produced. These are the only ridged cups I use, and the only cups I have had any issues with. April 29, 2013
Makes a very good cup of coffee! I received a 2 k cup free sample - tried it and I'm hooked. Fantastic coffee. It actually tastes like coffee - not the watered down stuff you get at the gas station being passed off as coffee. As for problems - they all have problems from time to time. I have purchased product directly from Keurig and had several to only give me a half cup. Coffee grounds in the bottom of your cup? Come on, it's coffee! Even brewed coffee sometimes has grounds residue. So all these "problem" are non issues with me. So far, I have gotten an enjoyable cup every time I've made a cup of Signature Blend. And yes I will keep buying them. Just wished they were on sale more and you could find more coupons - I drink so much is is getting expensive! Bottom line - good full bodied coffee. Yes I would recommend this to anyone looking for a k cup coffee! April 23, 2013
Puncture problem I, too, had problems with the K-cup failing to puncture. I discovered that if I tilted the cup forward and closed the lid slowly rather than pop it down I rarely have the problem. And if I don't feel it puncture, I open the lid and check it before I try to brew. Realign the hole with the spike before brewing. After it becomes a habit, it is not a bother. April 17, 2013
Love the coffee, but not the k cup I recently purchased this coffee for the first time, and on my first try had a coffee mess every where. Tried a second time without a problem and loved the taste but have yet to have another without tons of coffee grounds or leaking everywhere! As I see on website I'm not the only one. I'm a little dissapointed in gevalia to continue selling this product with a known defect. I will be returning the box back to the store! Hope you develop a new design gevalia! April 16, 2013
Coffee is great but not the cup itself I love the taste of the Gevalia Signature K cups but have had similar issues to other posters on this review. The coffee itself is one of my favorites but the K cup design is apparently flawed. When I brew the coffee I have never had any grinds in the coffee but the issue that I have encountered is that the cup does not puncture properly. I have this issue with my new K cup machine but never have this problem with my older machine at work. Even when the coffee does come out fine and I remove the cup you can see that the cup itself has warped from the design. I called and spoke with customer service who were very understanding and easy to work with. I feel once they get the cup design fixed this coffee k cup product will be one of the best out there. April 13, 2013
Design Issues, Decent Coffee Like several others, I went through a few watery, ground-filled and small cups of coffee before I noticed that the spike on my Keurig couldn't easily puncture the bottom of the K-cup. It's a new Keurig, and the problem only occurs with Gevalia and the related Maxwell House K-cups. It's solved by manually pushing the cup on to the spike, then closing the lid of the Keurig. The coffee itself is decent enough. April 3, 2013
Same as everyone else These are the worst cups I've tried so far. They fail to give me a full cup more than they work. The plastic seems to get fully pierced, I think it's the filter inside that's failing. I'll try pushing the cups on the bottom spike before closing to get through this box without wasting any more. I love the coffee, but will never buy their k-cups again. March 30, 2013
Must Have Fixed The Problems I've been using the Gevalia K-Cups for about a month now. I have to admit I haven't been running into the problems I've read about on this forum. I haven't experienced coffee grounds leaking out nor the Keurig failing to puncture the bottom of the K-Cup. Is it possible Gevalia has corrected the problems, or did some have defective machines with pins that didn't fully extend into the K-Cup? I do believe those who made those observations, but I personally haven't been experiencing these problems. As far as the coffee taste is concerned, I just love it. There's a pleasant mellowness to Gevalia coffee. The medium and stronger coffees have avoided the bitter after-taste that is so prevalent in other popular coffee companies. March 30, 2013
Very nice light coffee! This is a very nice light coffee. It is better than Starbucks blond roast and tastes more like a coffee house coffee. I'm sitting here with a cup of it now. Have a great day. March 2, 2013
Coffee grounds in my cup Thought I would try this Gevalia k-cup but what a surprise I got with 6 out of 7 tries. Only 1 cup was drinkable and almost every cup was riddled with grounds. Sad too because the one good cup I did get to drink I thought was very good. I will not purchase these again until I've heard this design flaw has been fixed. February 24, 2013
Poor K-Cup design I would not recommend the type of K-cups used by Gevalia due to the cup not being sturdy enough. I've had to throw most of mine away as a result of the plastic crumbling when inserting the cup into my machine and lowering the lever to puncture the hole in the bottom of the cup. The cup is not strong enough to withstand the pressure needed for the needle to puncture a hole through the bottom of this cup. This also caused my machine to get clogged up as it would try to brew but the water could not go anywhere...disappointed. February 18, 2013
Grounds in my coffee. Do NOT buy Gevalia K-Cups. Their design is different than any other K-Cups I have purchased. This rigid design causes the plastic to expand and doesn't allow the built in filter to stay in place. As a result there are grounds in my cup of coffee every time. PLEASE FIX THIS GEVALIA! February 17, 2013
Design flaw with grounds The coffee is good but there are some serious design issues with the k cups. I do not know if it is the ridges, the weakness of the plastic or what but just about every other k cup explodes with grounds. You guys should have made these perfect BEFORE you rolled them out. February 14, 2013
grounds in my cup I purchased this because it was on sale and regret it. The first cup had lots of coffee grounds in my coffee. I thought it was a fluke and dumped my coffee and made another cup of a different brand. I tried this again today and again I have coffee grounds in my coffee. I will not be buying this again, even on sale it's not worth it. February 11, 2013
Waited So Long...eh I wanted Gevalia coffee in K-cups so badly...and I so disappointed. The K-cup version of Gevalia stalls my Keurig coffeemaker...just momentarily until you figure-out that a hole did not punch in the bottom of the cup...the Gevalia version of K-cup has ridges on the sides of the cup and does not slip smoothly into the apparatus for the cup...that aside for the Signature coffee which I usually love brewed the taste, aroma and kick of coffee totally missing...the Colombian was much better even at the 10 oz measure. February 9, 2013
Great flavor I was hesitant to try it because of so many bad K-cup choices that I've made. But I am pleasantly surprised that it actually taste like the coffee I brew at home. This is a great find! February 6, 2013
Best K-cup ever! This is my favorite K-cup! It's not to weak and it's not to strong....it's perfect! It's so smooth, and no bitter after taste. I love it! February 3, 2013
Excellent My favorite Kcup!!!!!!!! Very smooth and no bitter aftertaste. Thanks for making Kcups! January 30, 2013
K-cup container is hard to puncture I love the coffee, however, I have tried using the K-cups on 2 different Keurig coffee makers and both have trouble piercing the K-cup (the bottom of the K-cup). I have not had trouble with any other brand of coffee that makes K-cups. I had to throw away several K-cups that I could never get the Keurig to pierce and made a huge mess a couple of times trying to get it to work. That winds up being pretty expensive. I will not be buying the K-cups again until the packaging issues are resolved. January 30, 2013
No decaf Why do you not offer decaf choices? This is not a good beginning. January 26, 2013
Finally!!! We were Gevalia junkies until the Keurig came around. We sampled several K-cup coffees over the years finding ones we preferred to others. However, when I stumbled upon this, I was sooo happy. I had even called Gevalia to request if they would consider offering k-cups. Yay... My husband and I both enjoy the drinkability of this Signature k-cup blend. Great coffee flavor and smooth finish. Yep. It's a keeper. January 25, 2013
