Very good coffee-maker
We received one of these as a freebie a few years ago, and it served us very well. It fell a little short of optimum brewing temperature, but it did better than most drip-type coffee-makers. The timer worked well, and overall it was a very good appliance until it was dropped during a move. It seems to be overpriced, but average cost per year is still acceptable.

jest guit working
worked for 8 mts great ,made coffee hot and quick. taste was also good .made coffee one day and the next day nothing.light comes on, but will not make coffee. and warmer will not get hot .99 ducks? my 19 duck one worked much longer. glad it was a gift and I did not pay for it. jest wish it lasted longer!

Surprisingly Nice!!
I received this coffeemaker with an introductary offer a long time ago, and just recently starting using it when my old "fancy"coffee pot finally died. I wasnt expecting much, but have been very happy with it. I like the way it looks and the way it brews. It is simple but has all the features that I need. I wonder--did the people who complained about how difficult it is to pour in the water READ THE INSTRUCTION BOOK?? First,pour the amount of water needed into the carafe, then rest the pouring spout on the edge of the water reservoir and it will rest secure while you pour. Then, place the carafe onto the warming plate. All in all this is a great coffeemaker. Im hoping mine will have longevity. I LUV Gevalia coffee and have been drinking for many years. I find no satisfactory sunstitute anywhere.

I loved the coffee maker till one day it just quit! I guess it was the pump. Too bad. Anyone else have this problem?

get it with intro offer
i just recieved this yesterday, and have only used it twice, so i cannot comment on longevity.
it is an attractive machine, not at all cheap looking, it functions as it should and the auto brew feature is great. i was so happy to wake up to find my coffee waiting for me this morning.
i got this with an intro offer, the coffee maker, and four boxes of coffee for significantly less than the listed price of this machine.
some have complained of finding coffee grounds in their coffee, i believe this may be due to a failure of the pause brew valve, slowing the drip of coffee, and causing the filter to overflow. if this happens i would suggest simply removing the valve, and letting the coffee drip freely.

Nice while it lasted, didn't last long
We make coffee about 3-4 times a month. We have had this coffee maker for a little over a year, so it has been used under 50 times. While it does have some excellent features, such as the auto-brew and auto off, the last 5-6 times we have used the coffee maker, the grounds somehow end up overflowing into the coffee. Not what you expect in the bottom of your cup, a bunch of grounds. We have cleaned it out with vinegar and water and it doesn't make a difference. I can't imagine how long this machine would last in a household that uses it every day!

The Best Maker I've Ever Had!
Love everything about this except that it likes to leak coffee grounds into my coffee YUCK! A simple solution is one of the fine mesh metal washable filters. I got my maker back from my sis minus the filter :( But otherwise, awesome!!! I have the black & love how it matches everything else in my kitchen!

Not as good as my previous Gevalia Stainless Coffee Maker
I purchased a Stainless Coffee Maker from Gevalia five or six years ago and LOVED it! I only purchased a new one (this one) because my son accidentally dumped some coffee grounds in the water reservoir and I could never get them all out. So, I bought this one, thinking it's be just as good. Boy was I was wrong. The "improvements" they have made, aren't really improvements at all!
1. The old filter basket was far better. It had a handle for pulling it out of the coffee maker and had a flat bottom so you could set it on the counter when filling it with coffee grounds.
2. The old top had a separate flap you opened to pour water into the reservoir. With the new design, you have to open the entire top which causes the water, which has accumulated on the inside of the lid, to pour down the back of the coffee maker and onto the counter. So, every time you make a pot of coffee, you have to clean up the water behind the coffee maker.
3. With the old carafe, when you pulled it out while the coffee was still brewing, the coffee would stop coming out until you put the carafe back in. With the new one, it drips unless the pot has completely finished brewing. And, yes, I am making sure the filter basket is in fully and the correct direction, it still drips every time.
4. This lid design on the carafe causes water (when filling the reservoir) and coffee (when pouring into a mug) to run down the front of the pot onto the counter. I have found that you have to pour VERY slowly to prevent this. I have been drinking and pouring coffee for over 15 years now, and have NEVER had a carafe do that.
Bottom line: I would NOT purchase this coffee maker again. If I could get another one just like my last one, I would buy it again in a heartbeat!!

loved it while it worked
It has been about 14 months and my beloved coffee maker has died. It was not over used, i seldomely used it. My husband plugged it up to brew us some coffee and it did not turn on. No lights came on, it did not make a sound. :~(

LOVE AUTO SET!!
This is a nice coffee maker. I imagined it to be big and bulky, but it is actually narower than my old one which fits better on my kitchen counter. It's great to set the auto maker for me to wake up to my morning coffee and I love to set the auto maker during a family get together to make coffee for me to serve to guests for after dinner desert.

Best coffeemaker I've ever owned.
I've had other coffee pots in the past, and this is probably the best one I've ever owned. I received it, along with some Gevalia accessories and a coffee subscription as a present for Christmas. I got it during my junior year of college four years ago. So needless to say the coffee and the coffee maker came in quite handy for those long study sessions and has been going strong ever since. My coffeemaker that I had before was a pain to program, this one is a breeze. I love how easy it is to set up and use. I love the aroma vents in the back of the machine, they let out these little puffs of excess steam that fills the whole kitchen with the aroma of a freshly brewed pot of coffee that always seems to disappear far too quickly when the brewing is done.
The one drawback that I have noticed with the coffee pot is that sometimes when I'm done cleaning the filter basket doesn't click all the way down into place and so if I attempt to turn it on the pause and serve feature doesn't reach my coffee pot for the coffee to flow into the carafe. The solution I've found to this is just anytime I pull the filter basket out for cleaning I make sure that the pause and serve button and the top of my coffee carafe are pressing against each other when everything is all assembled again. If it's not I press a little bit harder on the filter basket until it clicks into place. I wish they would have this written on the machine somewhere near the filter basket because I almost freaked out the first time I cleaned it and it didn't work, I thought I had broken it.

Coffeemaker died
I received this coffee maker 14 months ago and have used it daily. It makes great coffee but as of today has already quit working. I am going to buy another type coffee maker that hopefully will be more durable and last longer.

Perfect product, but misunderstood!
I have this coffeemaker and would like to respond to the people who gave it low ratings due to not working... The SAME EXACT things y'all described happened to me... It worked fine for a bit, then stopped working. I took it apart, cleaned it, put it back together, lights came on, water did not go through basket and overflowed the basket onto the counter. When I lifted the top, I noticed I had the basket in BACKWARDS! Uh-oh! I cleaned everything up, put the basket back in the correct way, pushing it down until it snapped into place, and everything worked perfectly. However, it happened AGAIN a couple months later, and when I checked to see if I had accidentally put the basket in backwards, I noticed that I had not snapped the basket all the way down into place. Then a few days later, it overflowed AGAIN, and I noticed that although the basket was facing the correct way and snapped down, I hadn't pushed the carafe all the way in underneath the basket. When the carafe is placed properIy, it pushes the bottom piece on the basket upwards, allowing the brewed coffee to flow into it. So... I have since learned to ensure that:
1. The basket is facing in the correct direction;
2. The basket is snapped down into place; and
3. That the carafe is pushed all the way back into the machine before beginning to brew.
Let me say this again, I LOVE THIS MACHINE!!!
IT IS PERFECT!!! It was actually user-error causing the machine to malfunction! LOL
I hope this info helps others, so they can truly enjoy this wonderful machine (and Gevalia's coffees!).

Great Coffeemaker
Received this coffeemaker as a gift. I was surprised at the high quality and sturdy feel. It seems much nicer than the upscale store brands I've owned in the past. It's also easy to use and makes a perfect pot of coffee.

Close but no cigar
The electronic portion of the maker ceased to function turning itself on and off when it feels like it. Caraffe hard to replace without buying from manufacturer.

bad coffeemaker
after having the coffee maker for a few months it stopped working...didn't use everyday and cleaned per specifications...made 6-8 cups at a time so didn't under or over use...coffee however is great.

Absolutely love this product!
I love this coffee maker it is dependable, stylish and brews a great cup of coffee. I slide it over close enough for my sink sprayer to reach, fill the reservoir then slide it back into place on the counter. Just a tip for those who were saying they were having problems with filling the reservoir. I have M.S. and it is hard for me to pick up and keep things steady so this works for me.

Product is very fragile
We've had two of these in the past 5+ years and twice now during cleaning they have quit working ... Enjoy the maker, but, frustrated that they seem to be very sensitive to cleaning. Perhaps we shouldn't use Brew Rite cleaner, yet, there is no mention of cleaners to stay away from ...

A good coffee maker, coffee is well brewed
However the design leaves room for improvement, I find aggravating that each time that I open the top water leaks in the back and makes a mess in my countertop

A great buy
My mother had this coffee pot, and I absolutely loved the quality of the coffee and how the pot worked. As soon as I moved out on my own, I purchase one for myself and my boyfriend for our use. We loved it! As stated before if there is any condensation on the lid it will get over the counter but for the quality I can deal with that. I got the white colored one on accident but I still love it nonetheless. I will be sticking with them for a while! It even makes regular store coffee better but I prefer their quality over quantity less enjoyable brands. The best way to start the morning imo.

Excellent Coffee
I agree if you don't pour slow, yes you will pour water all over. Been customer for a long time.My problem was it brewed 1/2 pot then quit, they do replace maker if you have a problem. JUST CALL!!! if you don't then don't complain.

Excellent Coffee Pot!
This is a very attractive coffee pot and most importantly, it brews a great pot of coffee. I just got this new pot after trying several others on the market and being disappointed with the results. The bonus is that is comes with 2 lbs of coffee and was only a little over $30 with shipping!
I will say the water fill port is just a tad small making it somewhat difficult to pour the water in, but it is very easy to insert the filter and put the grounds in the pot and next to impossible to spill the grounds into the water reservoir and plug up the thermal siphon. The filter holder is easy to remove and clean. I don't place much value on enhanced features and so the clock and the simple single time program and auto-brew are more than I would ever need. I don't even use those features much so it's not of much penalty that the LCD is not back-lighted and it hard to see in all but the brightest kitchen lights. Plus, Gevalia still uses the V-cone filters, which I believe will always give superior brewing results. It also feels very solid, with very good fit and finish. The lid closes securely and fits nicely. The carafe has a good shape and pours well.
While I am not sure I could endorse the $100 price tag that shows up retail on this pot, you really cannot go wrong with the introductory offer and the excellent coffees that are available with free shipping on orders over $50.

Plus, Gevalia still uses the V-cone filters, which I believe will always give superior brewing results. It also feels very solid, with very good fit and finish. The lid closes securely and fits nicely. The carafe has a good shape and pours well.
While I am not sure I could endorse the $100 price tag that shows up retail on this pot, you really cannot go wrong with the introductory offer and the excellent coffees that are available with free shipping on orders over $50.
