Great coffee but doesn't last
I love the coffee maker and the coffe is GREAT but the machine just doesn't last. My second machine just died and it didn't even make the 2-year mark. My first machine went just over 2 years. My mom and I got our machines at the same time and hers gave out 2 months ago. Sadly, I am looking around. I love the coffee but I am wondering if the quality of the machine could be better elsewhere.

the best coffee maker i've owend
owned this coffee maker for three years ordered coffee and their coffee is awesome as well,can use reg filters in this machine and I just get special coffee on holidays because they do have the best..

4+ years
This coffee pot has worked for over 4 years with NO problems at all and I'll be happy to replace it with another one when it finally kicks it! :) I'm happy with my purchase, and the coffee flavors are excellent! :)

Is OK but doesn't last.
I, too, have had problems with longevity.
I have had two of these. One white and one black.
Neither lasted more than 1 1/2 years before the heating element stopped working. I have had cheaper models that lasted a whole lot longer. While it does make great coffee, it is not so much better that I would want to keep buying a new one every 1 1/2 years.

Great coffee maker good coffee
I loved this coffee maker. It lasts for years and makes excellent coffee. Unlike the cheap $20 or $40 ones from the stores this does not start to oxidize inside on the water heater element after 20 pots. This is because the element I assume is proper stainless and not cheap exposed aluminum which corrodes very quickly and you can taste that after as soon as ten or a dozen pots on cheap makers.
To the people saying it stopped working after so many pots I had this exact same issue. The cause was my daughter came to stay with us and she is sloppy when she fills the coffee drip area and slap splash dashes coffee grinds into the water area. If you watch the little grinds getting sucked into the tiny water intake tube you can quickly imagine what is the cause of the failure. It is not the coffee makers fault it is user error.
I'm sad they do not offer this coffee maker with a membership anymore and will wait until they do. Meanwhile I just continue to drink German mild roast from ALDI stores locally its cheaper and has a good basic french roast taste. I do miss my gevalia though. Good stuff. They should maybe offer a discount on this maker instead of a cup as a reward for signing up for delvieries. Just a suggestion.

FANTASTIC FLAVOR
I've been drinking coffee,over 50 yrs,and nothing has ever come close to this GREAT,coffee,I can't wait to have my next cup,I just can't get enough,and, I find, I'm not to thrilled about having to drink another brand,when,I run out,everything seems bland, compaired to this WONDERFUL!!! coffee.

breaks
i have had 2 of these and both stop working after a short time of use. i have a bunn since 1994 and it still rock n rolls. i think they should have free replacement if you buy their coffee being that the coffee is so pricey.

Entire family enjoys Gevalia products!

I had a great experience when I encounted a problem.
My brewer stopped showing the water level after a week. I called Gevalia and got it exchanged w/out a problem, Alice was extremely pleasant and helpful. I will buy again. The coffee is so much better than other highly advertised brands. I've tried several and this tastes like "good coffee" should taste. This product is easy to use, filling the water and coffee and setting the auto is so easy. Worth your $$.

Great Coffee; Messy to add water
We have had this coffee machine for a while. It makes great coffee! Love the timer! However, every time you fill it up with water, the condensation under the lid slides off towards the back and you have a wet counter top. Also, filling it with water using a Brita filtered-water pitcher is a tight squeeze.
For this price, buy a better coffee machine.

Lasts about 1 year
If you're not extremely careful about audibly snapping the lid shut the basket overflows. It also cannot be used as a pause and brew ever: both scenerios ruin the keeps hot plate. the lid doesn't fit the caraffe well either and dribbling onto the counter while pouring should be expected.

Same problem, heating element didn't last.
We also had the heating element go out within a year. My cheap coffee maker at work has been working for over 4 years now and it gets used a lot more than the one from Gevalia.

Love my brewer
I've had my brewer for over 5 years and the only thing gone wrong with it is the burning element is rusting and the label has come off due to washing. This brewer has survived 3 cross country moves, carafe is still original.

Heating Element shot again
This is the second coffee maker and niether one lasted over a year. Both coffee makers the heating element went out. We love the coffee and tea great flavor, now if the coffee makers would only be as great, but sadly they are not.

Excellent coffee maker!
Nothing can compare with Gevalia drip process....I have both that & single cup from another company BUT it DOES NOT give you the great coffee of this machine!
Just wish they still had the smaller maker too---I ordered but out of stock..no longer making I believe...so sorry.
This machine gave me the quality of coffee I got in Europe etc...cannot beat it.

Stopped working after 2 yrs.
I got this coffee maker the summer of '09 and it JUST died on me this week (Nov '11). Wasn't happy that it lasted 2 yrs & 4 mths. BUT I must admit, it brewed excellent tasting coffee and it was easy to clean too. Just wish it lasted another 2.5 yrs. However, that doesn't mean it will stop working for you. This machine DOES brew great tasting coffee, whether it's Gevalia or another brand.

great coffee maker
I love this coffee maker. It makes great tasting coffee quickly and I love the feature of being able to program it to start brewing before I wake up! my husband does not drink coffee therefore he does not know how to make it. I love waking up to freshly brewed coffee!

We have this particular model for ten years now & it has provided satisfactory service.
When you own a specific coffee maker for 10 years you learn a great deal about the equipments features and use. All features have worked fine, expect for the occasional cleanings which are simply needed. This would be an easy machine to recommend to anyone. Two our immediately family also have had this particular model with good success.

one small concern
This is a very good coffee maker. Let's put that to rest immediately.
The only concern I have is with the lid to the carafe. The hinges of the lid are sensitive to lifting off and removing for cleaning purposes. As gentle as I have been in removing the lid, one of the hinges has broken off. Not a big deal, but it is like a jet airplane that has lost one engine; it still can fly, but one would prefer both engines working.
Be careful with the carafe lid and its hinges.

Comparable to others on market. It is more expensive than GE or Mr Coffee.
I have gotten several of these via the free offers. The 1st one worked great and lasted several years. However the last 2 I have gotten have had to be returned due to leaking or just not working, i.e. slow to brew. I will not pay 99.99 for a automatic brewer so my next pot will be Mr Coffee,GE or Black and Decker. ALL good brands locally sold.

Great coffee but doesn't last
