Breaks Too Often
I have purchased two of these coffee makers in less than a year and the locking pin that holds the brewing baskset in place has broken within a few months. Several times I have found coffee all over the counter or coffee grounds in the pot because the basket door doesn't stay shut. Not worth the high price.

Worked well but not for very long.
Ironically I sold my old coffee pot last week at a yard sale and ordered more Gevalia coffee online yesterday. That was the cue for the pot to break down. The machine has quit! It won't do anything other than light up the blue dial...no response from any controls. I don't know how long ago I got this pot but I expected much longer life than a year or two, especially since it was used only a few times a week. I'm very disappointed.

Nice looking on countertop, works very well!
We use this coffeemaker daily for a full pot of coffee. Have been doing this for almost a year (the maker is over a year old). This is the second one we've had. It makes a very good cup of coffee. Keeps coffee hot with the full two hour warming timer. Cone filters work very well and have no problems with them. As far as spilling when pouring that first cup, don't tip pot and pour so quickly. If you lift the lid just a bit, that definitely helps in not having spills. Periodically have to run a pot of vinegar water through to loosen the lime deposits from our hard water because making time slows some (but that's not the coffeemakers fault). Yes, I would recommend this pot and I would get another one when the time comes to replace this one.

Good maker
I have this coffee pot and do not have any of these problems other than when pouring the first cup. I usually spill it when pouring from any coffee pot though. Seems to make a good cup of coffee.

Quit prematurely
Not even a year and this has quit completely. Used 2 or three times a week on average.
Clock is useless too. Pretty blue illumination but not readable from a even foot away.
My coffee makers have always lasted 2 or more years.

Not the best.
Looks nice, but you cannot use a normal coffee filter - I have to put paper towel filter and then a coffee filter. Otherwise I have grounds in the coffee. Paper towels aren't the best thing to filter - especially spending top dollar for coffee.
It's not terrible, but it's not that great either - especially for $100. I got mine for free for signing up. Maybe worth $30.

Nice while it worked
I had the black model, looked nice & worked well (with the exception of the filter basket was hard to keep clean). I only used it 2 days a week, but kept the coffee warm & worked great to set my coffee to be ready in the morning. The major problem I had was it quit pumping water & the heating element didn't work after less than 2 years. Since I didn't use it much, I really expected to have it a lot longer. Every other coffee maker I've had outlasted this coffee maker by a lot. I would be hesitant to try this one again, especially with the cost of this unit. I wish I still had my old basic Gevalia maker but I re-gifted it & that person loves it!

Excellent Brewer
I've had this model for about 3 months and have experienced only one minor problem. When I make the full 12 cups, the first cup is difficult to pour without spilling a little. After that, though, I have no problem. As with all glass carafes of this type, you have to pour carefully. If you just slop it into the cup, it will do just that: slop. If makes very good coffee, is easily programmed, and cleans up easily.

The best coffee maker I had
I do not know if I am just lucky, but I have never experienced anyof the problems described in other reviews. This is the nicest looking coffe maker and the best I have ever had and I had quite a few.
Brewes the perfect coffe, the warming plate keeps the coffee hot and I never experienced any dripping or spilling during the brew. The carafe is perfect absolutely no dripping when I pour the coffee.
So I am really confused because I had the top of the line Cuisinart drip coffe maker before (Istill have it and it is in excellent condidtion) but I prefer to use this one.
Go figure!

Poor Design
I do not recommend this coffee maker. The design of the pot lid and the mating plunger of the filter basket doesn't match up well and I get coffee on the outside of the pot and pooling on my counter. I have tried every position for the pot and nothing works. I put 12 cups worth of water in and get 8 cups of coffee and a puddle.

new old look
Have this machine 1 year, and it still brews a decent batch of coffee. The carafe does have a tendency to drip....so just slightly open lid with thumb when pouring from 6+ cups level carafe...or pour real slow and careful otherwise it works good and looks sharp with it's art-deco-vintage design, particularly in the darkened kitchen sitting on the counter top with it's blue clock light glowing!
