Unique describes it!
I have now gathered up about a dozen boxes of Gevalia kaffe, because I lived in Sweden and developed a taste for Gevalia's roasting. Since then, I've been to Colombia and experienced some of the freshest coffees in the world, which combined makes me a connoisseur of Gevalia's Colombian mark. For variety's sake, I tried this French roast, as I have enjoyed French roast from other companies and love sipping French coffee in France. How could I go wrong? Well, the best way I could describe the flavor is something reminiscent of coal smoke or diesel exhaust. It had a strong chemical flavor. I hope I got a bad batch, as I don't think it's fair to read others' posts prior to submitting mine... But if it is what it is and you've got a taste for kål (coal in Swedish) or bensin (gasoline), then by all means try this! You'll love it!

What French Roast should be.
This coffee is not unique -- and in this case, that's a good thing. It is a fine example of French Roast, strong and dark, but not bitter. Also makes fine espresso and iced coffee.

Excellent
Many years ago, I started Gevalia with an order of the French Roast. I liked it so much that I was hooked. Over the years I have tried many other Gevalia coffees but I keep going back to the French Roast. I have never found another coffee, anywhere, that I like as much as I like this one.

Rich and Flavourful
I have tried several other so-called French Roast coffees and NOTHING compares to Gevalia. It has a very rich robust flavor that lets you know you are drinking coffee - not tea. I prefer a strong flavorful coffee and this meets all of my expectations. And it smells heavenly!

Decaf French Roast has not taste
All the great flavor of French Roast Regular goes out of the cup when it is Decaf French Roast. Bring back whole bean french roast.

Excellent
I've been drinking S***ks French Roast and 'Morning Joe' for the past few years and thought they were good. I just tried the Gevalia and was amazed by the difference (really). The Gevalia has a wonderful kaleidoscope of dark coffee flavors, really took me by surprise.

Everyday coffee
This is a smooth, full of flavour coffee, without being too strong. It will be easily accepted by different palates. So if your family has different preferences in coffee, try this one.
The 4 crowns only relate to my scale of preferences within the different coffees offered by Gevalia.

Decaf French Roast has not taste
