Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 44 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Prefer Whole Bean version Velvet Noir is nice but like all Gevalia ground coffees the grind is too fine for my Bunn MYCafe single cup brewer. I also like Gevalia Breakfast Blend. But I've stopped buying Gevalia because the water won't filter down through the fine grind. I can grind my own coffee. So it's whole bean or no Gevalia for me. July 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by beautiful experience Wonderful taste, smooth, just an excellent cup of coffee. May 19, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Velvety but not much aroma We tried this as the 2nd alternative to discontinued Cafe Sperl. It has some aroma with a velvety finish but unlike the special taste and aroma that Cafe Sperl had. We tried Velvet Noir 4 times and decided not to buy again due to its lack of taste and aroma. Rated 5 out of 5 by Exceptional coffee! Velvet Noir produces wonderfully flavorful, rich coffee that isn't bitter, with a beautiful aroma. This became our favorite, and we're very disappointed it's being discontinued. April 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by this coffee had great taste too bad this coffee is being discontinued it was a great cup of coffee, nice flavor not to strong February 17, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by This coffee tastes burned This was substituted for a good coffee that was discontinued without contacting me and it was the worst coffee ever! Too dark, smells and tastes burned. January 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best coffee we have had in a long time. I ordered this coffee on a whim thinking the name was intriging and 1 box wouldn't hurt if we didn't like it. Well, we love it . My daughter and her husband said that was the best coffee they had had in a long time. We truly hope it is never discontinued. Everyone we serve it to just love it. Phyllis B. December 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by perfect This is the best coffee ive ever had. Its very smooth and not bitter at all. I love it! I'm hooked. The powdered appearance kinda shocked me, but it is heavenly!!! December 18, 2013

Full bodied Decafs

I have been getting Gevalia's Decaf Breakfast Blend for awhile but am looking for something with more pizazz. I have tasted very good decaf coffees in some of the more upscale restaurants. They are full bodied with lots of flavor, but are not bitter. Would you please recommend which of your decaf coffees would be full bodied with lots of flavor but not bitter?

Answer:
Try the decaf French Roast. It is a darker roast with lots of body, and my friends can't tell that it is decaf.

Answer:
Our French Roast and darker blends are fuller bodied decaf coffees. Try filtering for dark roasts and trying the decaf varieties to find one you like.

Answer:
Slim,
I would go with the Dark Roast. If you grind your own beans, I would grind them very fine, unles you are using a French Coffee Press.
And you can always try the Espresso Roast! I have used that for lattee and brewed coffee.

Answer:
Well according to the mail I got from Gevalia in July, the decaf Velvet Noir was discontinued in June and they recommended the Cafe Sperl as a replacement. Haven't tried it yet so I cant tell you if its as good.

Dark Roast is a premium full-bodied coffee without the harsh, unpleasant taste. Savory, woody, and full of character, its pleasant bittersweet notes play a finale.
