Exquisite aroma and taste! When I first opened Velvet Noir, I thought my wife would think it was too strong. She equates boldness of flavor with strength. Much to my surprise, when I made the coffee, she said "This is what coffee tastes like in the finest of restaurants. You should take some of this to K****'s to tell them what good coffee really is." A bold flavor and aroma, yet deliciously smooth, Velvet Noir is now our top favorite. My idea of the "perfect coffee!" I also recommend Traditional, Dark Roast, Espresso Roast, Pecan Torte and Royal Vinter. Great tastes with choice. April 28, 2013
This blend is rich and smooth. My favorite ! Drinking this blend is almost like enjoying dark chocolate. I put half and half in the cup also. Excellent taste, aroma, finish. April 25, 2013
One of the smoothest dark roasts ever! If you like dark roast flavor, but do not want the often bitter undertones or aftertaste, this is the right choice. Hands down the best dark roast I have ever had. The flavor is reminiscent of true Greek coffee, without the overwhelming gritty aftertaste or extreme sweetness. Awesome! April 24, 2013
Smooth and tasty Very smooth coffee, great flavor and full body. I've tried both whole bean and ground. Same results with both. April 24, 2013
Lives up to the name I generally do not like dark roasted coffee... in fact Gevalia is the only brand who has dark roasts that I will drink. When Velvet Noir came out, I immediately bought a box because it was the brand new, fan named flavor and I wanted to know if it lived up to it's new name. It so totally does. This is the smoothest dark coffee I have ever had, and just the smell of it when opened is pure heaven. I highly recommend giving it a try. April 24, 2013
What a delightful cuppa! This coffee tastes like its name. It is velvety smooth and lovely in all ways. Our current favorite!! March 28, 2013
A new find for me and now a new favorite! I was looking for something stronger that mixes great with chocolate, this coffee really is smooth yet strong enough to mix with chocolate and both flavors come through & balance nicely. This has become a new regular purchase for me. March 26, 2013
Nothing fancy here I rate this coffee as a 2, on a 1-5 scale. I found the coffee on the bitter acid side. I'm also not a fan of dark roast, so that could be the reason. Adding my normal half and half didn't improve it. March 22, 2013

I have been getting Gevalia's Decaf Breakfast Blend for awhile but am looking for something with more pizazz. I have tasted very good decaf coffees in some of the more upscale restaurants. They are full bodied with lots of flavor, but are not bitter. Would you please recommend which of your decaf coffees would be full bodied with lots of flavor but not bitter?

Answer:
Try the decaf French Roast. It is a darker roast with lots of body, and my friends can't tell that it is decaf.

Answer:
Our French Roast and darker blends are fuller bodied decaf coffees. Try filtering for dark roasts and trying the decaf varieties to find one you like.

Answer:
Slim,
I would go with the Dark Roast. If you grind your own beans, I would grind them very fine, unles you are using a French Coffee Press.
And you can always try the Espresso Roast! I have used that for lattee and brewed coffee.

Answer:
Well according to the mail I got from Gevalia in July, the decaf Velvet Noir was discontinued in June and they recommended the Cafe Sperl as a replacement. Haven't tried it yet so I cant tell you if its as good.
